Well, I have been wanting to show all of you my review of a collection is for an awesome cause and has a deep meaning behind it. It's called Color Me Cured. I can't remember where I saw it, but when I did, I immediately bought the whole collection, which is 7 polishes. Now, the colors themselves aren't anything out of this world, but it was worth the money considering the cause. Here's the story behind the brand:
Phoebe Stanfield from New Jersey, now 17, lost her father to cancer in 2009 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer when she was only 11. As she watched her father go through chemo, she said he never lost his spirit or showed signs of weakness and always continued to keep his sense of humor and continued to teach her to never stop living. When he finally lost his battle, she was so inspired by his positive attitude towards life and says that she couldn't think of a better way of carrying on his legacy by doing something about it. So Color Me Cured was born. This is a non-profit organization that is a line of nail polish and t-shirts, where all the profits goes directly towards cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Phoebe wanted to create a line that, like her father, was full of vibrant colors and life and "embodies the power of laughter and embraces courage." She says their main goal is to "promote happiness and wellbeing with the sale of all their products."
So, when I read this, I was totally inspired since I lost someone very close to me to colon cancer a few years ago. The whole line was about $70, which is pretty steep, but well worth it, each polish is $9. I honestly expected the polishes themselves to be "ok", but was a little shocked and very pleased that they are high quality and have a super easy application. I only needed 2 coats of each polish, except the yellow, just because it's yellow- that's never an easy color. So, here they are!
Power of Pink, Yes this is a hot pink. In the sun it looks red, but if you see the red at the bottom of my swatches, you can see it's not red. This was easily applied with 2 coats using Seche Clear as a base coat and Seche Vite as my topcoat, as always. This is the same for all of these polishes.
Banish the Blues: This is actually a bit shimmery. It's not very noticeable in the pictures, but it's a very light blue shimmer.
Lovin' Life Lavender: just your typical light purple pastel creme color.
Walking on Sunshine: This vibrant yellow took 3 coats to get really full application. It's just a bright creme yellow that looks like rays of sunshine:)
Glimmer of Hope: Not only do I love the name of this polish, but I LOVE this bronzy foil. I love foils because their application is so quick and simple. This was one of my fav colors.
Orange You Glad: This is an awesome bright orange creme.
CuRed: Last but surely not least, is the bright red. This name says it all.
