So I haven't been able to post any reviews ( I can't do that from work). So I'm supposed to get a new chord this week. Hopefully things will be back up and running soon. Things are doing better and my daughter is enjoying some Disney World right now....jealous!
Well...hope everyone has a super nailtastic week:)
I know I haven't posted in a week or so. I have been having some family medical problems. My grandmother, my dear sweet Mee-Maw has fallen- which doesn't sound too bad, but has broken her wrist, her hand on each arm and has a C2 vertebrae fracture (which causes paralysis), plus she fell like this 2 years ago, she's 88 and has Altheimer's, so things aren't looking up right now. There are some other family medical issue that are occurring during this same time that are keeping me from devoting more time to my blog and its upkeeping:( I spent the weekend in Arkansas with family, so I didn't even paint my nails since Thursday night! Ah. Hopefully things will start looking up. But, for now I'm going to try to post some old pictures I had taken a month or so ago that I've been saving up. (PLUS, my "swatching hand" nails have decided to start breaking and just don't look picture ready:( I'm just falling apart ha.
Well, hope everyone's week goes well! And I hope to be back on soon!!
So, maybe I made this too easy?? I will try something else next time, but not too much harder. I want it to be fun! So, congrats to Maria!
Hello polish world! It's been a bit since I've posted. Life doesn't always go as planned, so sometimes we have to put aside some things...(until things start getting better, at least). So, anyways, remember when I did a little quiz a while back. Well, I have been thinking what could I do that wouldn't be too easy, wouldn't be something you could just "google", but something that would be somewhat of a challenge. I hope what I have done will be just that, but only one way to find out!

Here are the rules:
1. Be a follower by GFC of Sassy Lacquer.
2. Leave a comment with #'s 1-12 polish brands (same as last quiz) in that order. You still don't have to name the color- just the BRAND. ( I will only accept entries by comment- I know it was my fault last time, though.)
3. The first person with all the correct answer wins! (only 1 winner this time ha)

THAT'S IT!

The prize is: A polish of your choice from Llarowe. (anything $15 or under, please- and please make sure that it is something in stock! Sometimes I will refresh the page and the polish I was looking at in gone!) She is always fast and efficient and has a good selection to choose from! I always add a bit extra to my prizes, so I will have it shipped to me, then repackage it and ship it to you (so it may take a tad longer to get it.)
Good Friday to all!! Well, hope everyone had a good week. So, this is my first true hurricane season down in Louisiana, so it's been a crazy week with Issac! I live in the northern part, so we just got some wind and rain but nothing serious, unlike the south and Mississippi. I work at a bank that operates out of Hammond, which if anyone paid attention was hit hard (it's not far from New Orleans). So, we have worked but the lower part of the state hasn't been. It's been weird watching it all unfold just a few hours south of us.

Anyways, that hasn't changed anything in my life, so now I bring you all the famous Max Factor Fantasy Fire, which is called the dupe for the also famous VHTF and VE (very expensive!) Clarins 230, as you can see from Chalkboard Nails. So, this will work for now...however, this polish was one of my biggest lemmings! So, I was SOOOO excited when I found it on ebay for a decent price. I ordered 2 mini bottles (which is the only size made...hmmm) from the UK. I couldn't wait to get it on!!!
So, for my look I wanted to use an undie that would bring out the beauty in the most awesome color, which I think is purple...so I used blue. My fav blue- Revlon Royal. It only took 1 coat of this bright bold color and 2 coats of Fantasy Fire to create this most beautiful array of colors I've had on my nails so far! I LOVE this look!! I think I saw this combo. You get a different look with whatever undie color you wear. But, whatever you choose to mix this polish with, it's beautiful and defintely works well with any color! My camera sucks and doesn't even begin to show off the beauty of this look! If you have Fantasy Fire or Clarins 230 what combinations have you tried? Show links if you have them! I am anxious to try something different since this combination isn't anything new, but this is definitely my favorite look.
How's everyone's weekend going? I haven't done anything but clean and polish. I'm almost to the point where I'm ready to do something on the weekend ha. Next weekend is a concert somewhere in a field (from my understanding) by Frank Foster- his new album release concert. He's this guy that my husband graduated high school with (mind you he had only 10 people in his graduating class). You can check him out on Facebook here. It's not really my kind of music, but he's very talented and a good friend of Allen's, so we enjoy watching him become famous. Pretty cool.

Anyways, since this summer has been all about neons I wanted to compare a few for you all. I seem to have collected quite a few yellow neon colors that I have been staring at on my shelves and thought I would try them side by side to compare.

So I chose to compare China Glaze I'm With the Lifeguard, Milani Totally 80's, Nina Ultra Pro Solar Flare, and Orly Glowstick. These are shown as they are on my nails from left to right.

First up is China Glaze I'm With The Lifeguard. First of all, I loved this collection, as did most people I found. I loved all of the colors I have from this collection. This is def a neon in my eyes but doesn't have that complete semi-matte finish neons usually have, but rather an almost shimmer finish to it and only required 2 coats with no undie- like most other neons.

Milani Totally 80's is one that I bought but haven't tried until now. It did require some white undies and was very sheer and needed like 5 coats for an opaque look. This is actually a more green than yellow color. This was the only color that has a creme finish to it.

Nina Ultra Pro Solar Flare. I've yet to find this brand anywhere but Sally's. They did have a summer neon collection come out, but not much is said about this brand. I think it's just as good as any of the other brands found at Sallys (China Glaze, Orly, etc.) This was the only color I bought from this neon collection. I had it on my toes early summer and got a lot of compliments and it is a very bright, very much a neon. All the qualities- requires white undies, very sheer, so bright it hurts, semi-matte finish.

Orly Glowstick and Solar Flare look exactly the same when side by side. Same qualities and a few dollars more in price. I love Orly but sometimes the application can be a little frustrating. The brush is long and thin and seems to make it harder to apply this neon since semi-mattes and mattes have a tendancy to dry quickly. I also used a white undie along with about 5 coats for an opaque look- even witht the white underneath. I still found the latter two polishes a bit streaky looking and wasn't quite pleased with the outcome.

So, there you are. 4 yellow neons from this summer. Just for review purposes I used Orly Bonder as basecoat and Seche Vite on top. I like all these colors and loved the neon polishes that were released this summer, but I'm ready for some fall colors, as I've already shown you with my previous review of Zoya. So, did anyone else like these colors or have any others they would add to this (other neon yellows)? Tell me what your favorite summer color was?

Well, as always I like to leave you with lil something. I was playingn around on YouTube this morning and found the "Yes Dance 2" from Rob Hoffman. I don't think it's as funny or original as the first, but nevertheless, it was a good laugh.

Hope everyone had a good week! So glad it's Friday! Yay. We have lil man and my boogie this weekend, so I swatched lots of polishes last weekend so I'm not trying to manage two kids, a dog, my husband, and my nails.

While making a quick trip to my local Ulta (an hour away lol) I managed to find the hidden Zoya Fall 2012 for NYFW. They didn't have the famous 3 polish Gloss Collection, which I suppose I'm just going to have to buy online, but all the other polishes were on sale. Since I'm on a tight budget I only got 2. It was so hard to choose, but I finally went with Evvie and FeiFei. I love how they come out with shimmers and cremes in the same collection. They are ALL awesome!

First is Evvie. I loved this color because it wasn't a gray and it wasn't a green, but an inbetween color that I think will be great for fall. I used Orly Bonder as my basecoat then 2 coats of Evvie and Seche Vite to finish off.

Next, is FeiFei. I LOVE this color! This was my first choice! It's a pretty sheer color so I used Essie School of Hard Rocks as my undie color. I then used 2 coats of FeiFei and finished off with Seche Vite, of course. I thought this combo turned out beautifully and am currently wearing FeiFei again, but with another combination of undie colors. I am happy with my 2 choices but wish I could get the whole collection, but will have to settle with a couple at a time.

I recently signed ourselves up on mint.com, which is a free budgeting website that is owned and created by Quicken, a well known budgeting software often used by businesses. Anyways, I have to budget my spending on polish and plan to only spend $40 a month on polish, which will be hard, but is necessary. I have decided that I will splurge on the Zoya Gloss Collection, so...that's half of my monthly nail budget...oh well.

Well, I hope all you lovely polish ladies have a wonderful weekend!! Happy Polishing!
Once again, I wanted to share this awesome, one of my most favortest videos EVER! Rob Hoffman's Dancerface. I've shown him before, but this one is one of the most hilarious things I've ever watched!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. School has started for most people. Addie starts 4th grade on Wednesday. Her school is so small that she just moves next door. There's one teacher/class per grade. So, as you move up you just make a "U" around the school..ha. Kinda cute, I guess.

Well, I am working on another little quiz, but I'm going to make it harder...that was way to easy, but I was just seeing how it would work. It was a test run. I will try to have one in a couple of weeks.

So, I am still working on getting better at nail art or just stamping...that's not really nail art, I guess, but it's something I'm still having to work on. So, I thought I'd bring a little example that I conjured up ha. I did some tweaking on my cuticles (they got a little dry between swatches and I guess I didn't really notice until I started editing my pics...srry!)

I used Wet 'N Wild from Fergie's new line Glowstick. It is an almost neon green shimmer that applies easily with 2 coats. I say "almost neon" because neons have been so popular this year that to me true neons hurt your eyes when you see them such as Orly Glowstick, which I also have, but just haven't swatched. One of those that I saw it once and had to have kinda polish (hence the name...) This is still a pretty color and looks nice as a shimmer.

I used Orly Bonder as a base.. 2 coats of Glowstick. I used Color Club Revvvolution, which is my fav gray holo, as my stamping polish and one of my new stamps from Cheeky Monkey CH16. Then finished off with...yup, thick coat of Seche Vite. Have you tried any of the Fergie Line yet? If so, what's your favorite color? What do you think of them?
I'm just chilling at home watching "The Hunger Games" and having a nice drink with the hubby:) doesn't happen very often! Yet, I still can't resist the tempatation to blog! Here's why:
So, I had my little quiz last night and one of my winners asked for Essie Action. I told her that I had the polish, but had tried to wear it once and it was so difficult and streaky that I gave up and almost threw it away. It has been sitting on my shelf until she now. So, I did a little googling reviews of Action...turns out it is a difficult polish but very pretty. So, I had to give it another try and some attention. This is what I got:

3 coats, no topcoat, direct sunlight

I have to say this has been the most difficult Essie polish I've ever "worked with". The brush didn't want to work with me, but I messed with it and it started to cooperate. Then the polish itself...well, I had to add a steel ball to the mixture and it seemed to help the streakiness. First, I have to say that in the bottle this color looks like a pastel, but there's nothing light about Action. This collection Poppi Razzi Summer 2012 for Essie brings 4 "neons" that have a semi-matte finish, which you can clearly see above. I didn't buy any of the other colors in this collections, but from what I read about the other colors, only one besides Action, is the only other polish that presents itself like a true neon.

Well, I started off with Orly Bonder, hoping this would help the polish stick to my nails. This is a very thin polish and is streaky and dries quickly. So, this is a tricky polish and needs precision and patience. It took 3 coats to get the polish a more opaque look. This is with no top coat, simply b/c I just loved the satin look this polish naturally gives! (again, I can't make my pictures bigger...what up Google??)

Next, I added a thin coat of Seche Vite (unlike my usual thick coat of goopy Seche). The gloss added to the neon just make it sparkle...well, see for yourself:

So, as with all neons, I wanted to try a white "undie" color, Circus Reverso, to see if it was any brighter. I didn't find that that it is, but I only applied 2 coats of Action instead of 3. But, here we are with no topcoat:

And in the shade, white undie, 2 coats, no topcoat:

Lastly with Seche Vite:

And in the shade:

So, my conclusion is that is a difficult polish, but if you have the patience and right tools, this can be a beautiful manicure! I love neons and this definitely is one of my favorites for the summer. I'm glad that Iris asked for this polish, because I don't know that I would have given it a second thought! Hope you found this helpful! Let me know what you think. And if you own this polish, how did it work out for you?

Hello lovely polish lovers!! So...I've been doing some thinking on blogging and what it means to me. Long story short...I would like to bring a little more to the table than just pictures and opinions. So...to start off on what something new, I thought I would give a...quiz! School is starting, so what better way than to integrate learning into polish?? Now, most (or all) of you polish professionals won't have a hard time with my first quiz. Below are pictures and all you have to do is leave a comment with the correct in answers, in order. I don't care what the name of the polish is...just the brand. Easy, right? The first person with the correct answers gets one these polishes of their choice (not necessarily that particular color), but the brand as a prize! These's not catch other than in order to comment you have to be a follower. So, hope you like! This is something new, so if this is fun and successful then I'll do more like this!
These should be pretty easy...this time. Now, that last one is a bit old school and not available in stores....
Let me know if you like this! I had fun doing that and have more to come!! Have fun!

Just to clarify, the rules are:
1. You have to be a follower to comment.
2. List the BRAND NAME in order.
3. Give your first name and email at the end of the comment.
4. The first person to list all correctly and follow the above rules wins one of these polishes of their choice.
I haven't really been doing much swatching lately. I don't know what's up with my body, but it's just been one thing afer another since we came in from vacation. I feel like I'm just getting a head cold now, but alas! It is not enough to keep me away from my polish! I went to the doctor this morning and have a sinus infection (so basically a cold), except they gave me 2 shots and 5 different meds. I'm also having a bad flareup with my eczema, so I'm a little doped up and still feel like crap, but I'm still here:)
I've been doing a lot of rearranging and organization, as I've been showing some pictures, trying to get all my polishes and things in the place where I want them, but I keep changing my mind! Damn freewill...ha.
Well, I am trying to incorrporate more nail art into my manis, but I'm still in the kindergarten phase haha. Please let me know how I can improve...whether it's my nails, the way I paint, ideas, my pictures I take...whatever!

.

So, I used Orly Bonder as my basecoat then used 2 coats of Cult Nails Spontaneous, a gorgeous purple with purple micro glitter, which I left as the top color on my ring finger. Then I used 1 coat of OPI Significant Other Color, which I think is a very sheer, beautiful duochrome of pink, green, and kind of this orangy-red, I guess more of a multi-chrome. I thought it would be a more pink color, but this is defintely a duochrome, where more than one color is the primary color, even though the bottle appears pink/purple.

I then tried to get crafty and use some studs I bought off of the Cult Nails website. I used the 2012 Cheeky Monkey plate CH1, which I got on Amazon on sale now for $15.99, 26 plates in all. I used Konad's stamping polish in black for the bows. And of course I finish it off with a thick coat of Seche Vite.

(my blogger all of a sudden won't let me enlarge or add captions to my pictures). Don't mind my middle finger (I "bleeped" it out because it's partly broken!) eep! Well, I feel like crap, so I'm going back to bed. Let me know what you think, and has anyone else been experincing problems with blogger, also? Well, toodles mah noodles! Hope everyone has a great week!
Thought I'd never get done! So now I just have to find a creative way to get them organized by color. I have an idea, but I need some of those chains they use on dog tags.

Well, I have been wanting to show all of you my review of a collection is for an awesome cause and has a deep meaning behind it. It's called Color Me Cured. I can't remember where I saw it, but when I did, I immediately bought the whole collection, which is 7 polishes. Now, the colors themselves aren't anything out of this world, but it was worth the money considering the cause. Here's the story behind the brand:

Phoebe Stanfield from New Jersey, now 17, lost her father to cancer in 2009 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer when she was only 11. As she watched her father go through chemo, she said he never lost his spirit or showed signs of weakness and always continued to keep his sense of humor and continued to teach her to never stop living. When he finally lost his battle, she was so inspired by his positive attitude towards life and says that she couldn't think of a better way of carrying on his legacy by doing something about it. So Color Me Cured was born. This is a non-profit organization that is a line of nail polish and t-shirts, where all the profits goes directly towards cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Phoebe wanted to create a line that, like her father, was full of vibrant colors and life and "embodies the power of laughter and embraces courage." She says their main goal is to "promote happiness and wellbeing with the sale of all their products."

So, when I read this, I was totally inspired since I lost someone very close to me to colon cancer a few years ago. The whole line was about $70, which is pretty steep, but well worth it, each polish is $9. I honestly expected the polishes themselves to be "ok", but was a little shocked and very pleased that they are high quality and have a super easy application. I only needed 2 coats of each polish, except the yellow, just because it's yellow- that's never an easy color. So, here they are!

Power of Pink, Yes this is a hot pink. In the sun it looks red, but if you see the red at the bottom of my swatches, you can see it's not red. This was easily applied with 2 coats using Seche Clear as a base coat and Seche Vite as my topcoat, as always. This is the same for all of these polishes.

Banish the Blues: This is actually a bit shimmery. It's not very noticeable in the pictures, but it's a very light blue shimmer.

Lovin' Life Lavender: just your typical light purple pastel creme color.

Walking on Sunshine: This vibrant yellow took 3 coats to get really full application. It's just a bright creme yellow that looks like rays of sunshine:)

Glimmer of Hope: Not only do I love the name of this polish, but I LOVE this bronzy foil. I love foils because their application is so quick and simple. This was one of my fav colors.

CuRed: Last but surely not least, is the bright red. This name says it all.

Like I said, there are nothing really original about these colors, but the meaning behind their creation and purpose. You can also purchase t-shirts and donate any amount towards fighting cancer.
Plus, I'm still working on my "polish station". Trying to get all my polishes on the nail sticks I bought is taking FOREVER. It seems like as soon as I get going I get new polish... I feel like I'm never going to get done! I haven't swatched in at least a week! However...I still polish my nails every other day, as always, and keep that updated on my NOTD page.
So, I will show you a preview of some of what I've gotten in the mail in the last couple of weeks:
Thank you so much for all those who entered!! I appreciate your support and please stay tuned for more upcoming giveaways. Like I've said earlier, I have been hoarding polishes and other goodies since February to giveaway. I will try to get another one going in a couple of weeks. So, please don't go anywhere.

I also have recently bought a LOT of polishes, and can't wait to get back from vacation and start swatching and sharing! I ordered the 2012 Bundle Monster plates (which I know aren't brand new), but still excited about. And some nail art and some nail art brushes (I'm not an artist by ANY means, but I thought I'd at least give it a good go...)

Anywho, I just wanted to say thank you to all you polishees and hope that I can bring more to the table, to be challenged, and to continue to give more to this wonderful community of polish lovers! Thank you and remember...Don't let anyone dull your sparkle! Glitter on!

Here's a lil something extra. It's a clip from Mad TV. Does Bon Qui Qui ring a bell to anyone?? It's a good laugh:)
Yay, but I have just found out and wanted to share with those who entered the Nerd Lacquer Giveaway, which happens to end the day my vacation starts, July 23 (next Monday)...not smart on my part, but I wasn't thinking about that when I entered it all in rafflecopter. I'm so sorry. I will have NO internet connection where I'm going! It's just to the lake, but it's family time. Now, I could go to an internet cafe or I might try tethering with my cell (which I've never done before), but I'll just have to see what I can do. So...at the worst I will have to pick winners and announce when I get back next Friday, the 27th. Please don't be mad! I thought I would have connectivity (I mean, this is 2012, right?), but alas...
So, I have been ordering indie polishes out the wazoo! I have so much to show and so little time! But, I have to work for 1 more days, then I'm FINALLY on vacation:) But, I will be out of state, so I don't know if I will even have internet connection!! Oh NOOOOs:(

I just wanted to give everyone a preview of the new Rainbow Honey Equestria Collection, which was inspired by My Little Pony's- Friendship is Magic. I got it in today and am trying something new because I can't possibly swatch everything I get in one day. I bow down to those who are able (have time) to swtach an entire collection. Now, if I were representing the company or doing an actual requested review, then that's different...lol.

I just first want to say how wonderful this polish is and I wasn't in the least bit disappointed in this collection! Rainbow Honey, which is a more high end indie brand was "born out of a love for color and a penchant for creativity." - Dee, founder and Chief Designer of the company, says she draws her inspiration from 90's video games, Japanese Festivals,, and kids' TV shows. These are her quotes on the inspiration for each polish under each picture.
These awesome polishes are on sale at rainbowhoney.com for $10 a polish or $70.00 for the whole collection- so it's like getting one for free. I can't wait to get this polish on, and I'm sure I will use these for laying and different looks. The colors are a wonderful consistency of glitter, and each nail stick has 3 coats, which made it look a little clumpy, so it might have been better to use an undie color then 2 coats. I can't choose a favorite. Each color has it's individual interesting qualities and the people at Rainbow Honey are very talented and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!
And out of pure curiosity, since I don't really recall the specific My Little Pony's, here's a picture:

I just wanted to give everyone an update. I haven't done posts in almost a week. I have been a busy girly this past weekend. My daughter and I went shopping to prepare for our family vaca next week. That was a disaster. I kept thinking the whole time my mom saying, "well, you're paying for your raising." My mom should've slapped me back then and made me mind and be more respectful. We did get to eat some much desired sushi and Orange Leaf, though. It's wasn't all bad. Addie just has no concept of "you can't have everything you want." Then, Sunday I cleaned (after buying a new vaccuum! ) and FINALLY rearranged my polish. I have 2 corners in our room and I have had my eye on one of them to make into my polish space, but finding the time and energy was a challenge. So, I bit the bullet and moved my stuff. I used what I had. Now that I have a space, I 'm getting an idea of what I want to do. Here are some (awful camera phone) pictures I took this morning as I walked out the door for work of what I did.

My "regular" storebrand, drugstore, etc. polishes

My "expensive", irreplaceable, indie polishes (kept away from little hands)

So, as you can (kind of ) see I have my polishes arranged in by color, kind of hidden. I hate it, but it's all I could do right now until I can an idea of how I want to arrange them. I see most people have "melmers", but I just don't want mine hidden away. Maybe when I'm in the thousands or whatever, but for just a few hundred, I want them seen. I would eventually like to get a bookshelf and put like step-racks on them to stack different levels on each shelf. When my collection gets big enough I would like to arrange them by brand then by color. Then, my little "indie" shelf that holds all my "valuables" like my Nerd Lacquer, Cult Nails, Models Own and then on the bottom are my minis. If you look on the table there are some plastic nail sticks. I got those on ebay for like $1.50 per 50, so I bought a ton (with the expecation of drastically expanding my collection...hehe). I did the wheel, but don't like it. This way I can add by color, brand and just stick wherever I need to help keep me organized- plus I can write or use a sticker to show brand and name and add a number or whatever. I am also in the process of creating a spreadsheet to go along with this.

Fourth shelf: corals, reds, flakies, and glitter

Like I said, this is from my camera phone, so the pictures suck, but it's just an update of my polish collection and how I organize everything. All my other stuff like top/bottom coats, stamps, removers, cuticle and hand care, etc. are on the shelf on the desk or in the white 3 drawer plastic thing beside these polishes. I have an idea of what I need to help move things along. Now, it's just a matter of expense...hmmm. Well, I have a TON of polish I've bought online coming my way (yay!!!), so can't spend anymore on this project, but I will keep updating- and with better pictures next time!

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW YOU ALL STORE AND ORGANIZE YOUR POLISH STASH! I love going to other blogs and looking at pictures of people's creative ways they keep up with their polish.
Well, it's been so hot here and we finally got some rain. After Pizza Hut for lunch along with the rain...all I wanted to do was take a nap. Nothing special going on, just been buying polish like crazy online. I have like 5 packages- probably 15 polishes in all, along with some nail sticks so I can start to organize and make a list of my stash. I need to find a bigger place...I'm running out of room for my polish!

Well, with the rain and no sun I can't take good pictures outside so I am bringing some swatches out of the old picture vault. I bought some indies back in March and have been meaning to swatch them but just never got around to it. I finally had a chance to do so but then never posted my review...so that's what I'm going to do now:)

Today I thought I'd show you Pams and Kin, P&K, found on etsy. I only bought one polish, Lucky Street, but she sent me a free big bottle of one of their new colors, Collide, which I also swatched.

I thought I would use a base that was similar to the color of the glitter. I went with Revlon Bonsai, which is a creamy shimmery kind of duochrome green and yellow. I haven't worn this color before, but I really like it. It has a very nice application and went on well with one coat. I used 2 coats of Lucky Street and Seche Vite.
Now, here is Collide, which in retrospect, I should have used a more colorful base so that you could see how beautiful this polish really is. I used SOPI Queen of Everything, which is a very silver, thin polish, but it gets the job done in one coat. This polish is really good for stamping. I love the flakies and holo glitter in Collide. It makes for a unique polish and would be an awesome polish to layer with. Thanks for sending me this polish for free! Can't get better than that!
You can still get these colors plus MUCH more on her etsy shop here. What I like is she makes just more than glitter colors, and they are reasonably priced at $10 a bottle, which for most indie brands is great. Most indie polishes are going for $15-20 a bottle plus shipping. Anways, check her out and hope everyone has an awesome rest of the week! Here's a little something for you lovely readers:
That's ok...I have a vacation coming up in 2 weeks! Yay. My first paid vacation in almost 3 years! Well, I will make this short and sweet. I always do my nails for work on Monday. I'm waiting to get my stud nail art from Cult Nails tomorrow, so I wasn't planning on doing anything but just one color, but I couldn't help myself. I have been looking on tumblr and the web this weekend and have seen so many cool ideas I had to try something simple but with a lil sompin-sompin...

This is what I used:

Essie Splash of Grenadine, NOPI Fabulous is My Middle Name, and Nina Pro Glamrock. This Essie color is one of my favortist colors and I've used probably half the bottle. I used the NOPI glitter because it's thinner and has rectangle strips mixed in with smaller different colors of glitter. I've had the Glamrock for a while and used it on Addie. It's a thick black and silver glitter. You only need one good coat of this sucker to get a full application.

It started to rain just as I went outside to take my pictures, so I ended up getting stuck under our shed with not much light. Well, I used Seche Clear basecoat, 2 coats of Essie, then I used a thin coat of the NOPI almost up to the tip. I then used a thin coat of Glamrock and right after used another thin coat of NOPI to sprad the glitter around and kind of mix it together. I really like the strips of glitter and was my fav part of this mani. I then decided to top it off with a rhinestone and 2 thick coats of Seche Vite...voile!

Well, I wish everyone a wonderful fantabulous week! As promised, I will leave you all with a lil somthing:
So, we worked 2 days then a day off, then working another 2 days then having a weekend. I could get used to that. Anyways, we have been out in the sun with Kade and I need a nap...ha.

Well, I have been wanting some Cult Nails polish for a while, so I finally found some I really wanted. I don't think I'll ever get my hands on some Unicorn Puke, but I am a new super fan of Cult Nails now...I bought the Divas and Drama Collection that is on sale on their website. That included Scandalous, Enticing, Manipulative, and Seduction. I also bought Charming from the Fairy Tale Collection just cause it looked so pretty. So, I had just checked out and then found the nail art- studs and rhinestones that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I immediately emailed them and asked if I could change my order. They let me add to it and didn't charge me the extra shipping! John from Cult Nails even emailed on the 4th to help me out! How awesome are they?!

So, today I'm only reviewing 2 of the polishes and not the whole collection. I wasn't sure what mani I wanted to do, but all these polishes are quite sheer, so I thought I would try some layering. This was my result:

This is what I used:

I used 1 coat of Color Club Hot Like Lava from the Foiled Collection, then I used 1 coat of Charming and 2 coats of Seduction then I used Essie Matte About You for a matte finish. I was torn when it came to using this because I didn't want it to runi the shimmer, but I like the outcome. It's not really noticable in these pictures, but Charming is a beautiful almost duochrome light purple and pink shimmer, like it looks on their website here.

So, I've been thinking of a way to spice up my reviews and add a little something extra that says something about ME. So, I will leave you with a lil bit of diva....if no one has ever heard of Rob Hoffman then you def need to check him out! This is the "Yes Dance". No matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old! Plus, he's just so freaking hot! (he played Chase in "Step Up 2").

Anyways, hope everyone has a super weekend, divas!! I'm out!
I am so excited to have tomorrow off! Well, I will get to my non-patriotic post...

I have been drooling over this collection before it was even released but everytime I found the collection together it was never in stock...until last week! My first Models Own polishes! I was soooo excited to get them. Their store doesn't ship to the US, so thanks to Harlow & Co. I got mine in like 4 days...shipping from Canada! How awesome! I wanted the first Beetlejuice Collection, but then their summer Beetlejuice collection came out and it was love at first sight!
More than any of them I wanted Indian Ocean. So I'll show it first. This beautiful duochrome is blue, pink, lilac, but very sheer. So, as shown below, I used one coat of Pure Ice Kissy Kiss (a periwinkle color). It wasn't very opaque but that's what I was going for. I then used 2 coats of Models Own Indian Ocean, followed by a thick coat of Seche Vite- I also used basecoat Seche Clear (I will ALWAYS !use a basecoat although I may not name it in my posts- as I used the same base and top coat in all of these manis)) I LOVE this outcome! Indian Ocean also has small purple or pink glitter in it- just a subtle amount to really make it pop. One of my favorite polishes! Jen from Polishaholic also did an awesome swatch on this color here!
Next, is Tropical Sun, which I really liked but wasn't just crazy about until I put it on. This was also a sheer peachy shimmer with hints of orange pink and gold. I decided to go with the base color, coral. For this I used Sinful Colors Hazard- one coat of this opaque polish gave me a brighter Tropical Sun that I would have had otherwise. I still loved this look and as shown below shows its different "faces" in the sun.

Last, but surely not least is Copper Pot, which was, I suppose was my least favorite of these 3, which isn't saying much. Once I put it on I was impressed- although I have probably 4 polishes that are almost this same color (one being a Pure Ice for $1.99). This was strong enough not to use a base color underneath, so I just applied 2 coats of this shimmery copper, hence Copper Pot lol. Looking back, it wouldn't have hurt to use 3 coats, but it still turned out nice.
When I went outside to take these pics it looked as if it was about to rain, so there wasn't a lot of sun, which didn't really give me a lot to work with. Of course, the clouds eventually moved on and my other swatches for this came out great due to the sunlight. Yay for summer....ha. Living in Louisiana isn't much fun during this awful season...the humidity is smothering. Well, I will leave you with this fun picture:
I don't know about how the weather is where you live, but here the humity is enough to smother you. I've been taking pictures of when I get in my car after work and taking pics of the temperature on my phone. So far I have 107, 108, 111, and 117 degree!! Holy Schnikes!! So, I haven't been spending that much time outside unless I have a pool close by:) I'm working on getting my husband to get us a pool by devising a wonderful win-win situation: I go walking and get all hot (my biggest problem when I work out is cooling off!) So, I go walking and then jump into the cool water and continue my exercise by swimming while simultaniously cooling off! How are you staying cool this summer or warm in the winter?

So, I have a lots of pics to share today. Last week I received my order from K.B. Shimmer, a new indie brand that has just taken off- which has really awesome products besides nail polish. I just figured out how to upload and edit my pictures in Google+, which is the old Picnik.com- my fav photo editing site that closed in April. Well, now I have them saved but not on my hardrive, so my pictures haven't really been consistent lately...or maybe at all, but I'm working on it and getting good advice from those blog pros. I think I have come to the conclusion that I need a better camera, also.

Well, I was lucky enough to get to choose from ANY of KB Shimmer's polishes they had, but unfortunately couldn't spend a lot of money, so I only got 2 for now and a pack of 6 sampler soaps (which I will show later cause they're so cool!) , but as soon as they open up I want more polishes. I got KB Shimmer's Party and Midsummer's Night. I tried to get ones that I hadn't already seen swatches of- like The TraceFacePhiles has like ALL of them, but I really want Vegas Bomb, but she did such a great post on it, I wanted to try something different.
Here is Midsummer's Night, which I had to have when i saw the star glitter in it! I love purple to begin with, but this color is phenomenal. I used Gelous basecoat to give me a good thick start. I expected this to be a very sheer being hard for the brush to grab the glitter, but that wasn't the case, quite the opposite! I first tried it out on a wheel using other a base polish to help add color, but this polish doesn't need it. This was 2 coats along with a thick coat of Seche Vite. This neon jelly-like purple is infused with big hexo blue and silver glitter, blue microglitter, and of course the big silver stars, which give it the perfect name- Midsummer's Night. Love it! I was going to just swatch, remove and swatch my other KB polish, but I loved this so much I kept it on for 2 days (which is what I normally do). It chipped, but not anymore than any other polish. I was VERY pleased with this polish:)

Closeup of KB Shimmer Midsummer's Night

The second polish I swatched is Party, which is a white jelly filled with all colors of square glitter. I'm not big on glitter and I'm not big on white polishes, but this just clicked and I thought I'd try something different...this polish doesn't disappoint!

Direct sunlight, no flash

Just as with Midsummer's Night, I tried it out with different color base polishes to see what would bring out the best of this polish. I tried a dark blue, bright blue, coral, and white, then by itself. The white looked the best to me. Again, i used Gelous basecoat then I used one coat of Pure Ice Platinum, which is a white kind of sheer, shimmery white. I used 2 coats of Party with Seche Vite, of course. This white jelly like color had so much glitter in it that I actully had to wipe some of it off or back into the bottle. I liked that it wasn't hard to grab the glitter, but it kind of make it goopy and thick and left my manicure kinda clumpy (as you can see on my thumb in the picture below). But, overall I like it. It's unique with all colors and sizes of glitter. Some of the square glitter turned up as you can see on my middle finger, which I didn't like, but overall it's a neat combination- so this polish is like a Party!! Heeeyyy!
I hope everyone is having a super weekend. So, I have quite a post to share, so let's get to it! Warning: pic heavy!
Today I wanted to show you a couple of new Maybelline polishes that I got a while back. I've never worn Maybelline before- maybe when I was a teen, but they release a new Color Show line that sales for only $2.99 a bottle. Couldn't pass that up! I got a bunch of them, nothing really special and unique. But, I did get a couple grouped as Denims, which are shimmery, flaky blues that I thought looked great and were blog-worthy.

First, is Denim Dash, which is the lighter of the two:

What impressed me about these polishes was that I only used one coat for both! It was a wonderful opaque shimmer and applied very smoothly.

Denim Dash closeup

Then I thought I'd get all fancy and add one coat of Sally Hansen HD DVD, which is a micro-flaky iridescent purple and blue- this is meant more as a layering or top polish as it is very sheer and doesn't look good on it's own.

I just loved this combination and took like a million pictures...I still had to narrow it down and I could do any less than this! sorry!

Just a side note: I think it's' time to thin out my bottle of Seche Vite- it was so goopy it was stringy almost like a glue gun. Since I don't have any polish thinner, here's my system real quick:
I keep about 5 bottles of it on hand (available at Wal-Mart and Sally's for about $8 a bottle, but if you have a Sally's card, there are usually deals to get free top and basecoats) and use about 3 at a time. I have them listed on the bottom from thickest (oldest) to newest. When one becomes too thick I just add more from the second bottle...and so on. It works for me until I come up with something better! Ok, back to the polish...

Next, is the darker of the Denims, Styled Out:

Again, I used one coat of Styled Out and a thick coat of Seche Vite. I just loved this little polish and can see myself using it for stamping.
I liked this one with no top coat. Gives it kind of a matte look. I love the iridescent shimmer of the different shades of purple and blue. Here they are compared side by side:
Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference since the polish was dark to begin with. But, nevertheless, this was a fun swatch. Lastly, here are the Denim Dash and Styled Out together:
I don't really wear these brands I guess because they're so well known and usually not unique. Most of the colors have been around for a while, but I really liked these and at such a great bargain they are great polishes and I was impressed enough to take a ton of pictures! Let me know what you think? Have you tried any of the new Maybelline Color Show line?
